The Children's Music Web Awards Category Descriptions

Time dependent categories: To be eligible for these categories, a recording must have been released between April 2000 and April 2001.

1. Best Recording for Babies Any musical release which is appropriate for children aged 0 to 2. This will be auditioned by primarily English-speaking caregivers.

2. Best Recording for Toddlers Any release, primarily musical. which is appropriate for children aged 1 through 3.

 3. Best Recording for Young Children Any release, primarily musical, which is appropriate for children aged 4 to 7.

 4. Best Recording for Older Children Any release, primarily musical, which is appropriate for children aged 7 to 12. 

 5. Best New Artist for Young Children Any artist or group who performs for young children, age 7 and below, and whose first national release was between the time frame above.

 6. Best New Artist for Older Children Any artist or group who performs for older children, aged 7 and above, and whose first national release was between the time frame above.

 7. Best Song for Young Children Any single, original song ( in English) whose primary audience is children 7 or below, which was released in the time frame, or not yet released. Limit 3 applications per songwriter.

 8. Best Song for Older Children Any single original song (in English) whose primary audience is children 7 to 12, which was released in the time frame or not yet released. Limit 3 applications per songwriter.

Non Time-Dependent Categories: no restriction on release date

 9. Classic Recording for Babies Any musical release or re-release which is appropriate for children aged 0 to 2. This will be auditioned by primarily English-speaking caregivers.

10. Classic Recording for Toddlers Any release or re-release, primarily musical. which is appropriate for children aged 1 through 3.

 11. Classic Recording for Young Children Any release or re-release, primarily musical, which is appropriate for children aged 4 to 7.

 12. Classic Recording for Older Children Any release or re-release, primarily musical, which is appropriate for children aged 7 to 12.

13. Classic Artist for Young Children Any artist or group who performs for young children, age 7 and below

14. Classic Artist for Older Children Any artist or group who performs for older children, age 7 and above. 

 

The following awards are discretionary awards decided by the Judges, and, as such, cannot be applied for....

The Judges' Special Award This is the judges' discretionary award, possibly multiple awards, that are not based on the restrictions above. It is intended to honor stellar recordings from the past 5 years that may have been overlooked by other awards. Children's input will be considered for nominations.
