The Children’s Music Web Awards 2003 Categories

 

 

TIME DEPENDENT CATEGORIES: To be eligible for these categories, a recording must have been released between April 2002 and April 2003.

 

BABIES:  Newborn - 18 months: Recordings in this category will be rated by caregivers.

 

  1. Best Recording for Babies

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 0 to 18 months.

 

  1. Best Lullaby/Classical/Educational Recording for Babies

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 0 to 18 months, and has as its primary focus lullaby, classical, or educational material.

 

TODDLERS:  18 months - 3 years Recordings in this category will be rated by caregivers in conjunction with toddlers.

 

  1. Best Recording for Toddlers

Any release which is appropriate for children 18 months to 3 years old.

 

  1. Best Classical/Educational Recording for Toddlers

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 18 months to 3 years old, and has as its primary focus classical or educational material.

 

 

PRE-SCHOOL:  3-5 years  Rated by kids

 

5. Best Recording for Pre-schoolers

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 3 to 5.

 

6. Best Educational/Seasonal Recording for Pre-schoolers

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 3 to 5, and has as its primary focus educational, religious, or seasonal material.

 

7. Best Spoken Word Recording for Pre-schoolers

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 3 to 5, and has as its primary content spoken word material ( music may or may not be included.) Can include books on tape, etc.

 

8. Best Compilation for Pre-schoolers

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 3 to 5, and is comprised of a compilation of material from a variety of sources, including re-released material.

 

YOUNGER:  5-8 years  Rated by kids

 

9. Best Recording for Younger Children

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 5 to 8.

 

10. Best Educational/Seasonal Recording for Younger Children

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 5 to 8, and has its primary focus educational, religious, or seasonal material.

 

11. Best Spoken Word Recording for Younger Children

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 5 to 8, and has as its primary content spoken word material ( music may or may not be included) Can include books on tape, etc.

 

12. Best Compilation for Younger Children

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 5 to 8, and is comprised of a compilation of material from a variety of sources, including re-released material

 

OLDER:  8 –12  Rated by kids

 

13. Best Recording for Older Children

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 8 to 12

 

14. Best Educational/Seasonal Recording for Older Children

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 8 to 12, and has as its primary focus educational, religious, or seasonal material

 

 

15. Best Spoken Word Recording for Older Children

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 8 to 12, and has as its primary content spoken word material ( music may or may not be included.) Can include books on tape, etc.

 

16. Best Compilation for Older Children

Any release which is appropriate for children aged 8 to 12, and is comprised of a compilation of material from a variety of sources, including re-released material.

 

TIME DEPENDENT- SPECIAL CATEGORIES

 

17. Best New Artist for Preschoolers  Ages 0 to 5

Any artist or group who performs for pre-school children and whose first national release was between the time frame above.

 

18. Best New Artist for Younger Children Ages 5 to 8

Any new artist or group who performs for younger children and whose first national release was between the time frame above.

 

19. Best New Artist for Older Children  Ages 8 to 12

Any new artist or group who performs for older children and whose first national release was between the time frame above.

 

20. Best Song for Preschoolers  Ages 0 to 5

Any single, original song (in English) whose primary audience is children 5 or under, released in the time frame or not yet released. Limit 3 applications per songwriter.

 

21. Best Song for Younger Children  Ages 5 to 8

Any single, original song (in English) whose primary audience is children aged 5 to 8, released in the time frame or not yet released. Limit 3 applications per songwriter.

 

22. Best Song for Older Children Ages 8 to 12

Any single, original song (in English) whose primary audience is children aged 8 to 12, released in the time frame or not yet released. Limit 3 applications per songwriter.

 

NON TIME DEPENDENT CATEGORIES: no restriction as to release date

 

23. Classic Recording for Babies

 Ages 0 to 18 months (Recordings will be rated by caregivers) Any release which is appropriate for children ages 0 to 18 months.

 

24. Classic Recording for Toddlers

Any release which is appropriate for children ages 18 months to 3 years

 

25. Classic Recording for Preschoolers

Any release which is appropriate for children ages 3 to 5 years

 

26. Classic Recording for Younger Children

Any release which is appropriate for children ages 5 to 8 years

 

27. By kids, for kids:  Younger Children

Any release which is appropriate for children ages 5 to 8 years, and includes children under age 16 as performers.

 

28. Classic Recording for Older Children

Any release which is appropriate for children ages 8 to 12 years

 

29.  By kids, for kids: Older Children

Any release which is appropriate for children ages 8 to 12 years, and includes children under age 16 as performers.
