This month: Back to School

Start the school year off right with songs!
Here are some songs you might want to use, and references to websites:
Nearly everything that Red Grammer puts together creates a positive atmosphere for the classroom.
Especially important are his songs "See Me Beautiful" and "I Think You're Wonderful", both on his Teaching Peace CD. We've known many a teacher who makes sure her/his kids don't leave their classes without memorizing the lyrics to these positive songs.
Lou Del Bianco's Lost in School is a humorous look at his life in the upper grades- best for kids age 8 and up.
Our friend Bill Harley made a wonderful album called "Lunchroom Tales- A Natural History of the Cafetorium". Hilarious.
While you're at his site, check out "Zanzibar"- the classic tale of procrastination.
The Twin Sisters company puts out multiple albums for classroom use such as "Phonics"
Our friend and Lifetime Achievement Award honoree Hap Palmer has been creating curriculum based songs for young kids and special education for as long as we can remember! Check out his "Colors" song- a classic!
No one else writes children's music with the honesty and poignancy of Bob Blue.
His song "Courage" addresses friendship vs social acceptance- it's great for older kids ( age 8 to 12)
Jim Rule is a teacher himself- he has several songs to inspire kids, including one called "Si Se Puede"
Start the year out positive!
Katherine Dines has created an album of chants that, in our opinion, is just right for language development and language arts.
Another great group for the older set, Vitamin L has many songs about social interaction.
