Bio
Allegra Levy is a jazz singer/songwriter based in NYC. Educated at the New England Conservatory of Music for Jazz Performance, Allegra has long been involved in music education. She's recently joined the "kindie" community with her 5th jazz album, and 1st jazz album for kids and families, "Songs for You and Me," a real kids swing-a-long! She and her all-star NYC big band make every moment in the lives of little ones sing and swing — from bath time and bedtime to boogers and boo-boos. Yet every single tune on it is an irresistible earworm sure to wiggle its way onto the playlists of people of all ages. “This album was written for everyone,” says Allegra, “because the little kid in us still just wants to sing along.”
Since its release in April, the record has been showered (or rub-a-dub-dubbied) with international acclaim. “I know good jazz, but I also know what kids like—and this disc has plenty of both,” said The Syncopated Times of London. “…13 tracks which are undeniably catchy, surprisingly well arranged, and ten thousand times better than ‘Baby Shark’ could ever dream of being.”
Jazz Weekly also gave it two thumbs up, plus one zip-up cardigan sweater. “Allegra Levy sounds like a female version of Mr. Rogers on this cozy album of cozy songs for tykes…” it said. “Completely charming, life affirming and inviting. Won’t you be her neighbor?”
Allegra is excited to join the Children's Music Network and is committed to creating joyful music for children that reflects diversity, equity, and inclusion.
