Insightful Entertainment is Dave Jay's production company and record label, known for informative yet entertaining music videos, recordings, and live performances. Under this banner he produces clever, broadcast-ready material including his “Schoolhouse Rock‑esque” series One Minute Autobiography and The Punctuation People, plus children's music for BMG's Push Pop Jr. label and collaborations with Ignite! Learning. Learning has never been this much fun!
Live shows for children
Dave Jay's highly acclaimed live show for children features fun, upbeat, character-driven originals and a few “Dave Jay‑ified” classics that kids all know and love. With guitar, vocals, props, schtick, and sharp improv, he creates interactive performances that have kids laughing, singing, thinking, shouting, and dancing — especially the 4‑ and 5‑year‑old crowd — while adults are thoroughly entertained.
Education and special needs work
Dave Jay has brought his one‑man Beatles show, johnpaulgeorgeringo, into elementary and high school classrooms, making the Fab Four feel immediate and alive for students. He’s performed solo/acoustic, comedic, and personalized sets for children with special needs through organizations including HAI (Hospital Audiences Inc./Healing Arts Initiative), Music That Heals, The Starlight Foundation, and United Cerebral Palsy of NYC, among others.
Recording and production
Performing and recording as The Sound of Monday, Dave Jay blends the classic sounds of The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and XTC with an outside‑the‑box, theatrical approach he calls “J'Blammo Pop!” His catalog spans a long string of releases since the mid‑1990s, including his viral cover of the Spiderman Theme — with over 30 million streams — and the holiday original Santa Forever, a decades-long favorite with international in‑store and broadcast airplay.
Media and recognition
Dave Jay's music has been licensed for MTV's The Osbournes and featured in indie films, including the 2024 comedy The Unexpecteds, executive produced by Kevin Smith. He appeared on ABC's The View, where Barbara Walters told her viewing audience, “Dave Jay Gerstein — we just want you to remember the name!” He won Outstanding Solo Show at the New York International Fringe Festival for johnpaulgeorgeringo and later performed it at Liverpool's famed Cavern Club and at New York venues including the 13th Street Playhouse, the SOHO Playhouse, BB King Blues in Times Square, and Beatles festivals in both the USA and the UK. He continues to write, record, and release music on his own terms.
